Swinging with the Stars has been cancelled for 2020.

In light of the Covid-19 virus rapid expansion into a global pandemic, the Board of the Stand Like Stone Foundation have made the regrettable, but right, decision to cancel the 2020 Swinging with the Stars event.

We want to do our part to help ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of our Limestone Coast community.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the event so far, and especially our talented stars who have already started raising money for Stand Like Stone.

Swinging with the Stars is the key fundraiser for Stand Like Stone, providing an important source of administration funds to keep our community foundation operational. It also raises a significant amount of money that is used for important grants and scholarships for the benefit of the people of the Limestone Coast Region.

We look forward to dancing in 2021 and we are still accepting donations here on this page!

Meet the Stars!

Bekkie Houston

Why do you want be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

I am always telling my students to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zone and yet I haven’t set myself a personal challenge in a while. I figured SWTS was a great opportunity to publicly challenge myself whilst supporting the local community and education at Grant High school.

Why do you want be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

I always tell my students that “Putting themselves out of their comfort zone is the best way to grow” so I need to be a man of my word. Meet new people, have a laugh, raise some money and learn some new skills. Support foundations that do outstanding work to help kids with their education.

Why do you want be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

It is truly an absolute honour to be a part of such an integral foundation of our community. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to fundraise amongst the stars of our wonderful community.

Why do you want to be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

I have heard about Swinging with the Stars through friends of mine that have participated and they said how they really enjoyed not only the fun of learning how to dance and meeting people, but also, how the money went to such a worthy local cause. I grew up just out of Frances and know that the primary school there, where I began my education has been a recipient of funds raised. I feel I have been fortunate in life and I think if I can give back and make a difference in someone else’s, by raising money to be distributed to families struggling and needing help particularly with their education, I think it will be so worth-while. I would like every child to have the opportunity to follow their dreams as I did.

Why do you want to be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

It gives me such a great feeling of pride knowing that I’ll be a part of a well supported fundraising event that will directly impact our local community.

Why do you want to be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

The reason why I am participating in 2020 Swinging with the stars is for my Boss’s family. I work for the Balnaves family, and Annette Balnaves who passed away back in 2018 had a large involvement in the Stand Like Stone fund and I want to push myself and get well out of my comfort zone for the Balnaves Family. I know it means a lot to them. And as I mentioned this is something way out of my comfort zone… I CANNOT dance so I’m looking forward to pushing myself.

Randall Jones

Why do you want to be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

To give myself a personal challenge-get out of my comfort zone.  Hopefully raise some funds for a worthy local cause.  To have a lot of fun.

Why do you want to be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

My dad, Barrie Holmes, was a very active member of the community. He supported children all over Mount Gambier to participate in a sport they love; basketball. He was also heavily involved with the Catholic Church. His passion for helping those in our local community is something that my siblings and I have carried with us throughout our whole lives, we want to honour who he was and the way he raised us and continue to support young people to be involved in our local town.
