Swinging with the Stars 2023 - Stand Like Stone Foundation

Swinging with the Stars sees eight local identities battle it out on the dance floor to be named the 2023 Swinging with the Stars Champion.

On Saturday 17th June 2023 the Stand Like Stone Foundation is holding the well known ‘Swinging with the Stars’ gala event at The Barn Palais, with doors opening from 6pm.

Swinging with the Stars is the key fundraiser for the Stand Like Stone Foundation, providing an important source of funding which keeps the community foundation operational, as well as raising a significant amount of funds that are used for important grants and scholarships across the Limestone Coast region.

Tickets are $130.00 per person (plus booking fee), this includes dinner prepared by the chefs at The Barn Palais and music by local artist Louise Adams and ‘The Lucid Dreams’ plus a night filled with dancing, showcasing the fancy footwork of our 8 local stars who have been learning three dance routines under the guidance of Kim Cella of Hype Dance.

Swinging with the Stars really is an amazing event. Not only do our stars have a lot of fun raising money for their community, but they do so knowing that the money they raise will have a positive and lasting impact for the people of the Limestone Coast for many years to come.

Why do you want be a part of Swinging with the Stars?

I moved to Mount Gambier last year for work and decided to try out a few things I’d never done before. One of them was a dance class for grown-ups. I only went a few times, but it was a bunch of fun and now whenever there’s a beat I’ll tap my feet, bounce through the corridors, or groove to the slow rhythmic clunks of the photocopier! When I heard about Swinging with the Stars I loved the idea; when someone suggested I give it a go I laughed at them and ran away. Eventually I signed up because being brave is something I tell my students they should strive for. Besides it’s an awesome cause and a way of giving back and showing love to the community that has been so quick to embrace me.

I am raising funds for the Mount Gambier High School Educational Scholarship Sub Fund.

I am excited to have the opportunity to help the Stand Like Stone foundation in their philanthropic endeavours and give back to our community. I love dancing, and this is an amazing opportunity to also learn more dance moves and techniques. In my role as a school leader, I think it is important to model work life balance by embracing opportunities, taking risks and looking after your health and fitness.

Supporting and raising money for a great cause was one of me main reasons for participating. Also, speaking with past stars, many mentioned what an amazing experience being involved with this event. I do like the idea of getting out of my comfort zone, trying new things, and networking with new people within the community.
